TIGERS VS NEWTON ABBOT PACERS - 12/03/06
Taunton Tigers Women put on a terrific display of basketball in the Exeter League Cup Final last Sunday to snatch the cup from close rivals Newton Abbot Pacers. Following their pulsating semi-final win the previous week against 2nd in the table Exeter Eagles, the Tigers now faced 3rd placed Newton Abbot Pacers, the only side to take league points from the Tigers this season. To add extra spice to this game, prior commitments to important squad members, meant that the Tigers took to the court lacking their most potent scoring threats and also their big inside players.

TIGERS VS EXETER EAGLES - 03/03/06
Taunton Tigers Women were back in the SCAT lair last Friday for the top of the table tussle against Exeter Eagles – their closest rivals for the Exeter and District Basketball Association championship. Eagles are a young and talented side who have re-entered the league this season following a spell in National League Division 2 last year. This was a make or break fixture for the Tigers as a win would almost certainly secure the title, from the only side that could take it from them should they win all their remaining games.

TIGERS VS EXETER UNIVERSITY - 14/11/05
Taunton Tigers Women hit the road again this week to play the up and coming Exeter University side. The University’s side had built up a good reputation in the Exeter and District League and represented a significant test for the, as yet undefeated, Tigers side. As always with University sides, the strength of the side depends heavily on the current year’s intake. This year’s intake included no less than 4 students from strong European basketball nations, so a hard game was expected, even though Tigers had travelled with a strong squad.

TIGERS VS ROLLE COLLEGE - 28/10/05
Taunton Tigers Women welcomed Rolle College to their SCAT lair for this top versus bottom of this Exeter and District League fixture. Although this should have been a home fixture for Rolle, lack of sports hall facilities has meant that they are presently playing all their fixtures on away courts. After the dismal performance of the previous (abandoned) fixture at Exeter Eagles, less testing opponents were a welcome change for the Tigers. That said, it is always easy to make light of such games, and it is easy to be brought down to the level of the opPOSITION. It is testament to the Tigers that this was never an issue in this game as the side maintained its focus, shape, and game plan from start to finish and, as a result achieved a scoreline rarely witnessed in Women’s basketball at any level.

TIGERS VS EXETER EAGLES - 24/10/05
Taunton Tigers Women travelled to play Exeter Eagles, one of their closest rivals at the top of the Exeter and District League, on a wet and windy Tuesday evening. The omens were not good when the side’s journey was also hampered by hold-ups on the motorway and congestion in the approaches to the Eagles home court. On arriving at the court, it was discovered that the one of appointed officials had cried off, and a replacement was on the way! After a 25 minute delay in tip-off time, it was decided that the game should start with only one referee and without out the absent replacement official.

TIGERS VS NEWTON ABBOT PACERS - 04/10/05
Taunton Tigers Women played their first away fixture in the Exeter and District League last Tuesday evening, against the experienced Newton Abbot Pacers outfit, so often a thorn in the side of past Tigers Womens sides. Although the side traveled with only 8 players, due to work and other commitments, this provided useful court opportunity for the players in the small squad and served to provide a good solid workout to the team at an early stage of the season.
