TIGERS U16 MEN VS CARDIFF - 16/09/06

Tigers U16 Men played there 1st game of the 06/07 season this weekend in a pre-season friendly against a Cardiff team made up of mostly U18 players. The whole squad has been training hard over the past few weeks, with the new players slowly getting to grips with the way the team plays. The Tigers had a poor start and found it difficult putting what they have been working hard on in training into game situation.s After being 17-3 down at the end of the 1st Quarter it was always going to be a struggle to recover from that deficit. However, from then on the Tigers showed glimpses of what they could achieve by winning the second quarter and narrowly losing the last 2 by 3 points. Coach Carter was able to rotate his whole squad throughout the game with the new players getting a taste of what national league basketball is about. Team manager and Assistant Coach, Francis 'big time' Scarborough explained afterwards that the team needed to get this type of performance out of the way early. He hoped that the players could focus in practice during the next few weeks to correct their errors. Final score Tigers 33 - 57 Cardiff.
